Pholiota tuberculosa (Schaeff. ex Fr.) Kummer syn. Dryophila tuberculosa (Schaeff. ex Fr.) Quél. Knolliger Schüppling. Cap 2–5cm across, subglobose becoming convex to flattened, sulphur yellow to orange covered in small rusty flattened scales. Stem 30–60 x 3–10mm, yellow and smooth above the shortlived ring, flaky below and becoming brownish towards the swollen base. Flesh yellow, becoming reddish-brown on cutting. Taste bitter, smell slight and mushroomy. Gills pale yellow becoming spotted rusty-brown. Cheilocystidia thin-walled, hyaline, cylindric-clavate or capitate. Spore print rusty-brown. Spores kidney-shaped, smooth, 6.5–9 x 4–5um. Habitat on fallen twigs, branches and sawdust. Season summer. Occasional. Edibility unknown –avoid. Found In Europe.
